At any moment, a dependent of an international student is allowed to go to the UK. Dependents include partners, spouses, and/or unmarried minor children. First of all, the question is “Who can take their dependent to the UK as a student?” a full-time student enrolled in a postgraduate programme (RQF level 7 or higher) lasting nine months or more can take dependents with them to the UK. Although your partner and child must have a specific sum of money on hand and provide a proof of finance.
London courses cost £845 per month for up to nine month (For dependents).
For up to nine months, courses outside of London cost £680.

- Your husband/wife or civil partner
- Your unmarried partner
- Your under-18-year-old child
Documents Needed for UK Spouse Visa:
- A visa application form
- Valid passport
- Previous passports
- 2 recent passport-sized colored photographs
- Proof of financials
- Proof of your relationship i.e. photographs
- Your personal details such as full name and date of birth
- Previous immigration details, if any
- Criminal record certificate, if any
- TB test certificate
- IHS payment receipt
- Biometric i.e. fingerprints and digitally clicked photograph
- Proof of spouse visa fees that you have paid
Additional documents needed for UK Spouse Visa if they’re travelling later:
- Wedding documents
- Nikah namah
- Marriage Certificate
- Tenant agreement
- Council Tax exemption paper, if any
- Proof of partner’s residence (utility bill)
Documents Needed for UK Dependent Visa (Children under the age of 18):
- Birth Certificate
- A visa application form
- Valid passport
- 2 recent passport-sized colored photographs
- Proof of financials
- TB test certificate
- IHS payment receipt
- Biometric i.e. fingerprints and digitally clicked photograph
- Both parents must be in the UK or traveling to the UK for their children to eligible for a dependent visa. Families that are unable to fulfill this, need to provide justifications for the child’s stay in the UK, or proof that you are the child’s “sole responsible guardian” and have put in place sufficient arrangements for the child’s care and a consent letter
Can dependents work in the UK?
A dependent may work full time in the UK, except that:
- They are not permitted to hold a position as a professional athlete or coach.
- They cannot practice medicine or dentistry.
