What is a CAS?

A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a unique number which confirms you have been accepted on a course of study in the UK. It is an electronic document generated using the Home Office’s system and is essential in order to make a successful Student visa application. You will need a CAS from the University in order to apply for a Student Route visa.

How to receive a CAS?

You can track the progress of your CAS request by logging into the CAS Shield platform or student account on university portal. Once you have logged into the portal, you will be able see what is required of you to receive a CAS.

Accept an Unconditional Offer and pay your fees

To accept your (un)conditional offer you must pay the acceptance fee. For an unconditional offer, you must have provided the university Admissions Team with evidence of the academic qualifications that are the basis of your offer to study with us and evidence of your English language ability (if applicable). The acceptance fee will be deducted from your total course fees. Each university has their specified percentage of payment required for CAS.

Log onto CAS Shield and complete the dynamic form

You will receive an email with a link to the CAS Shield, to create a password and log on to begin the CAS journey. You will only get access to CAS Shield if you have an unconditional offer and have paid your acceptance fee.

Assessment of Student Visa Sponsorship

Once you have completed the first two steps, we will check whether you qualify for Student visa sponsorship by referring to the Home Office regulations. The university cannot advise students how long this assessment will take, as it depends on several factors including your course of study, immigration history and previous studies in the UK and your home country.

Interviews

To get the CAS students might have to face interviews with the university. The interview that they face first will be a Pre-CAS interview. The interview that comes after a Pre-CAS interview is the CAS interview. A CAS interview is conducted by the UKVI UK visa and immigration.

Receive your CAS Statement

The university will send you a CAS Statement email, which will contain your CAS number and other information you will need to include with your online visa application. Once you receive your CAS statement, you can make your Student visa application.
